Your Wednesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Local high school students have another shot at culinary competition glory.
Students from the Salem-Keizer School District’s Career Technical Education Center will compete against dozens of other Oregon students in a gourmet cooking competition next week. South Salem students will also compete in a restaurant management competition.
The Oregon ProStart championships will bring together 11 schools to make a three-course meal and pitch an original restaurant idea to a professional panel. Last year, local students placed first in management and second in culinary. Salem Reporter was there to capture the action in photographs, which you can see here.
With a strong enough performance, students could advance to a national competition in April.
The Oregon competition will be held Monday, March 2, at the Salem Convention Center. We plan to be there and will share photos and results after the competition.
