Your Tuesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Volunteers at a south Salem church are ready to help low-income and homeless families file their taxes this spring.
People can stop by the free tax prep clinic for help on Monday evenings from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at Trinity Covenant Church, 5020 Liberty Rd. S.
There’s no income cutoff to qualify, said Bob Grosch, who’s coordinating the effort. Anyone who feels they could use the help is welcome to stop by.
Some low-income families don’t file taxes because they don’t owe anything. But they can miss out on money they’re owed, including credits for children, withheld back pay and other benefits that could put money in their pockets, Grosch said in an email.
