Good evening, Salem.

Salem-Keizer School District leaders want to tell you what they’re doing to guide students to better academic achievement.

They’ll present at the second annual “State of the District” event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 6-7:30 p.m in the McKay High School Auditorium, 2440 Lancaster Dr. N.E.

District administrators, principals, teachers and students will take the stage to talk about a variety of topics. A team from Liberty Elementary School will talk about the work they’re doing to improve how students are taught to read. Educators at Claggett Creek Middle School will discuss new curriculum and how it’s showing results in middle schools. And other district workers will discuss their outreach to at-risk youth.

Superintendent Andrea Castañeda will discuss the district’s progress toward goals set by the school board, including reading and math performance and graduation rates.

Free childcare is available for children ages 3-11. Register here. Interpretation is available into Spanish, American Sign Language, Arabic, Dari, Chuukese, Marshallese, Russian, Pashto and Swahili
