Your Tuesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Tomorrow is an important holiday.
We’re not talking about Valentine’s Day – though we will have a story about a local volunteer working hard to make the day special for newlyweds.
We’re talking about Oregon’s birthday. The state is celebrating 165 years since its founding in 1859. If that sounds more exciting to you than a romantic dinner, Willamette Heritage Center has an event for you.
The venue is putting on Oregon’s B-Day Bash Wednesday from 5:30-8 p.m. at 1313 Mill St. S.E. It’s a trivia night hosted by curator and history nerd Kylie Pine.
Trivia is free, though donations are welcomed. You can register online here.
We apologize for a technical glitch that resulted in our morning newsletter not going out today. Our web whiz has fixed the issue, and those stories are linked below so you won’t miss any local news.

FREE TICKETS – TOWN HALL ON GUN VIOLENCE
Salem Reporter’s Town Hall on Gun Violence will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Elsinore.
The Town Hall planned in January was canceled because of weather. This is free and open to the public but you will need a ticket.
At the Town Hall, experts will share the facts about surging gun violence in the community. This powerful program will pull back the curtains on this safety threat – and share how you can make a difference. This is a place for you as a citizen to help solve a community challenge.
The team at Salem Reporter invites you to join us for an extraordinary evening.
DATE/TIME: 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. Doors open at 5 p.m.
LOCATION: Elsinore Theatre, 170 High St. S.E.
