Good evening, Salem.

We’ve recently written about two new winter indoor farmers markets that opened this fall in Salem – one at Wavra Farms and one at the 45th Parallel Building. Both operate on Saturdays.

Several readers wrote in to remind us that Salem has a third indoor farmers market. It’s not new – in fact, it’s thought to be the oldest such market in Oregon – but the Salem Public Market operates year-round at 1240 Rural St. S.E., and features local produce, meat, eggs and handicrafts. You can browse their wares Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

And if you’d like to explore one of the newer additions to the market scene, you can read about the Wavra market here and the 45th Parallel market here.

We wish you a happy New Year’s and hope you enjoy the last weekend of 2023. Our team will be off Monday for the holiday – look for your next roundup of local news Tuesday morning.
