Your Wednesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
We’ve received reports of a second owl attack over the weekend on the streets near Bush’s Pasture Park. Below, you can find bird expert Harry Fuller’s take on the latest round of avian aggression on local streets.
The renewed attention to Salem’s cranky owl population offers a good opportunity to spotlight a worthy cause: the Salem Parks Foundation.
The foundation is a nonprofit organization which supports equipment and some programs at city parks. Back in 2015, when Salem briefly earned national attention for its attack owls, the foundation began selling angry owl warning signs.
They’re still available for purchase on the parks foundation website – $50 for a plastic version or $75 for a metal one.. Proceeds from the sign helped pay for the purchase of a new swing set at Lower Feffelle Playground in Bush’s Pasture Park – so the owls, however angry, are helping support the park’s human users indirectly.
Here are some of today’s stories. You can always find our latest reports anytime on our website.
