Good evening, Salem.

The city of Salem this morning issued a “cranky owl alert,” warning of reports of an owl getting close to people near Bush’s Pasture Park.

“The sightings seem to be in the evening, just as the sun sets in the areas surrounding Bush Park,” the city said in a Facebook post.

Salem Reporter also received a report from a reader who was attacked by an owl near the park on Southeast High Street last Friday, Dec. 15.

Our bird columnist, Harry Fuller, is looking into the issue with a reconnaissance mission in search of the nest. We’ll have more details from him later this week.

Here are some of today’s stories. You can always find our latest reports anytime on our website.
