Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
St. Joseph’s Parish will continue to hold mass this weekend in the church parking lot after a fire seriously damaged the church roof and sanctuary early Thursday.
The church posted an updated mass schedule on Facebook here. Archbishop Alexander Sample of the Archdiocese of Portland will attend the 11:30 a.m. mass on Sunday, Sept. 3.
Monday is Labor Day, and our crew will be off for the holiday. We’ll still publish several articles and our daily emails will resume Tuesday.
Local, state and federal government offices will be closed.
If you’re one of the workers enjoying a long weekend
