Good evening, Salem.
Should the upper grove at Bush’s Pasture Park stay unmowed in future years?
It’s among the topics Salem City Council will consider at their meeting tonight.
Park staff this year opted not to mow the area to give the white oak trees a break and allow the natural forest floor to restore itself. Now, Council President Linda Nishioka is proposing tweaking the program to incorporate some mowing in picnic areas and other high-use places, while still maintaining a no-mow approach.
We’ll let you know what the council decides on that and other issues on their agenda.
