Good evening, Salem.

Center 50+ is hosting a two-part class to learn about Oregon history starting next week.

Western University of Health Sciences Lebanon Oregon

Instructor Brad Tolliver will cover the state’s eras, with a focus on five themes: Indigenous/European relations, the urban/rural divide, progressivism and conservatism, race relations, and the state’s transition from a resource-based economy to a high-tech and digital economy.

“When the class is finished it is our hope and expectation that you will have a greater appreciation for and have greater insight into how Oregon became what it is today,” the event description says. The fee is $7.

Class runs Tuesday, April 16 and 23, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn more and sign up here.

TAKE OUR SURVEY – LOCAL NEWS

At Salem Reporter, we constantly work to improve the news service we provide the community.

Once again, we’re turning to you and other readers for insight.

We’ve crafted a survey to gauge you interest in local topics. We’re also inviting you to suggest topics you’d like to read more about.

Your participation is confidential – and puts you in the running for a gift. We’ll put names of respondents into and randomly draw five people to get $25 gift cards from our friends at Governor’s Cup Coffee Roasters in downtown Salem.

The survey won’t take long and your participation would be hugely valuable.
