Good evening, Salem.

Downtown Salem experienced traffic disruptions for almost three hours this morning after a train stopped on the tracks.

Salem police said in a traffic alert that a train hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Northeast Marion Street and Northeast 12th Street.

The pedestrian was transported to Salem Hospital in critical condition and has not been identified by police.

The collision affected eastbound and westbound traffic from Southeast Mill Street to short of Northeast D Street, police said. By 9:40 a.m., the train was moving again.

The pedestrian’s current condition remains unknown.
