The bridge removal is a step toward the redevelopment of the site as a riverfront complex with 382 apartments, a food hall, a brewery and other recreation and businesses.
That project is moving forward, and the bridge removal is a condition of the property sale to the developer.
The street will be closed Saturday and Sunday.
Also, a correction to yesterday’s edition. While sharing information about Music Day fundraisers for our local high schools, we listed state band and orchestra championship results that were several years old.
So while multiple Salem area high schools indeed won state titles last year, the list of winners we shared was wrong. 2024 state champions included West’s band and South Salem’s orchestra.
