Good morning, Salem.

It’s Election Day for many communities around the U.S., but don’t worry – you didn’t miss a local ballot.

A handful of cities in Marion and Polk counties have ballot measures before voters, but Salem isn’t among them. Woodburn voters are considering charter amendments. Stayton will decide on renewing a levy to pay for parks and the city pool. And fire districts for Amity and Southwest Polk County are asking voters to renew taxes to pay for their operations.

One of our core duties as a local newsroom is letting you know how to let your voice be heard. If you’re even a semi-regular reader, you’ll get plenty of advance notice when your vote is needed!

If you’re wondering, campaign rumblings are starting for the Salem mayor’s race and some city council seats, but that election isn’t until May.

Here’s some of our latest news. You can always find our latest stories anytime on our website.
