Good morning, Salem.

Southeast Deer Park Drive will be partly closed for several months near Corban University starting on Monday, June 3.

The street will close between Southeast Gath Road and Southeast Aumsville Highway until Sept. 15. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians can access the university through Aumsville Highway. Signs will point to alternative routes.

The project is intended to improve sidewalks and curbs connecting to a new development on Southeast Logistics Street, according to Trevor Smith, spokesman for Salem’s Public Works Department.

Northeast Marion Street will also be closed between Northeast 12th and 13th Streets from Tuesday at 6 p.m. to Wednesday at noon while crews repair railroad crossings at the intersection. Traffic on 12th Street will be allowed in both directions.

The work is part of continued improvements along the Union Pacific Railroad Line in Salem, with more closures expected at the railroad’s intersections with Northeast D and Market Streets this month and in June.

“Drivers are urged to be cautious while traveling, follow all signage, and watch for workers in the area,” the city of Salem said in a statement.
