Good morning, Salem.

Culinary students from the Salem-Keizer Career Technical Education Center swept a state competition Monday, March 2, earning glory by cooking the top meal on two butane burners in 60 minutes.

A CTEC team took first place in a restaurant management competition, while South Salem High School placed second.

Both CTEC teams will advance to a national competition in Baltimore at the end of April.

South student Connor Wolfgram also earned Student of the Year.

South and CTEC teams have historically performed well at the annual competition, put on by the Oregon Hospitality Foundation.

We’ll have photos of the event later today on our website.
