Good morning, Salem.

You could learn about local geology or Black women pioneers in Salem at two separate free talks tonight.

The Salem Public Library is hosting the Oregon Black Pioneers at 5:30 p.m. for a lecture about the early Black women who settled in the Willamette Valley. That’s held at the main library, 585 Liberty St. S.E.

At 6:30 p.m., Salem Talks Science will host its monthly science pub at Venti’s Cafe, 325 Court St. N.E. This month’s talk is about the geologic history of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, featuring Chemeketa Community College’s Autumn Christensen.
