The Family YMCA of Marion & Polk Counties is offering complimentary individual or family memberships through the end of the year to employees of the Salem-Keizer and Silver Falls school districts who were laid off in recent rounds of budget cuts.

A total of 112 Salem-Keizer employees lost their jobs in May. Educators can show they’re eligible with the layoff email they received.

“Our YMCA is more than just a gym; it’s a community hub where people come together to improve their overall well-being,” said CEO Tim Sinatra in a statement. “In these uncertain times, we want to be a source of support and resilience for those who have given so much to our children’s education.”

People with questions about the offer can contact Anna Marquez for Salem-Keizer at [email protected], or Kristi Horner for Silver Falls at [email protected].
