The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
The work was originally slated to start on Tuesday at the Union Pacific railroad crossing before the company rescheduled, according to Trevor Smith, spokesman for Salem’s Public Works Department.
The street will now close between Northeast Capitol and 14th Streets from Friday at 6 p.m. to Saturday at 1 p.m.
Crews will be repairing the railroad crossing at the intersection. Traffic will be detoured in both directions during the construction, according to the city of Salem.
The closure will include travel lanes, sidewalks and parking spaces near the train tracks.

“Drivers are urged to be cautious while traveling, follow all signage, and watch for workers in the area,” the city said in a statement.
