Copy of The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
Police and city leaders are hosting a public forum at 6 p.m. at Catholic Community Services, 3737 Portland Rd. N.E.
It’s the third in a series intended to both present data and gather input on how Salem should respond to an increase over the past few years in shootings, and growing youth involvement.
Friday’s session will focus on homeless Salemites, who make up a growing share of shooting victims, as well as the impact of shootings on families. There will be food provided and activities for children.
We’ll have a reporter at the event. If you want to learn more about local efforts to cut shootings, you can read our past coverage of the last such forum, held in April, and local law enforcement plans to change how they patrol and follow up with people on probation.
