The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
The Pentacle Theatre will hold auditions this Saturday for its production of David Lindsay Abaire’s comedic play, “Ripcord.”
The Salem show will be directed by Karen McCarty. Auditions will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the theater’s downtown rehearsal space, 197 Liberty St. SE. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.
The Pentacle is seeking an ensemble of actors able to play “three male-presenting and three female-presenting roles,” according to a press release.
“A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, so when the cantankerous Abby is forced to share her quarters with new-arrival Marilyn, she has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary,” according to a description by Dramatists Play Service. A bet between the two women “quickly escalates into a dangerous game of one-upmanship that reveals not just the tenacity of these worthy opponents, but also deeper truths that each would rather remain hidden.”
The play will run Friday, April 19 through Saturday, May 11. More information, including a full list of roles, is available online.
Meantime, the Pentacle is showing performances of the comedic play Brighton Beach Memoirs through Saturday, Feb. 3.
