The Aug. 5 event is a chance for locals and police to spend time together at block parties set up around Salem neighborhoods. If you missed the deadline to register your own block party, there will be two open to the public.

Seed of Faith Ministries and the Grant Neighborhood Association are hosting a party Aug. 5 from 5-8 p.m. at 1230 Winter St. N.E., and another party will take place at McKay Park Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.

The Salem Police Department will have three deputy chiefs visiting parties, along with lieutenants. Salem city officials including Mayor Julie Hoy, Interim City Manager Krishna Namburi and Salem city councilors might also stop by.
