Who do you know who makes Salem better?

The city of Salem wants to hear from you for its annual volunteer recognition.

City officials are asking residents to nominate people or groups for 10 awards celebrating service to Salem.

Awardees can be honored for lifetime service, completion of a special project or service to unsheltered Salemites, among other categories. Some awards specifically honor youth, businesses and school groups.

More information about the awards is on the city website here. The nomination form is here.

The deadline is Aug. 15. Award winners will be honored at a ceremony on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.
