Good morning, Salem.

A community meeting will focus on ways to address adverse childhood experiences in the Salem-Keizer Area.

The free event will be Thursday, Sept. 5, from 8-9:30 a.m. at the REC by Valor Mentoring, 3500 River Rd. N. in Keizer. It includes free breakfast.

It will focus on implementing five factors to strengthen families in the community, including building connections, parental education and social support.

The talk will feature three speakers with expertise in community development. They are Maribel Mora-Martinez of the Kennedy Neighborhood Family Council in Keizer, Jim Seymour of the Oregon Center of Community Resilience and Ashley Russell of Community Business and Education Leaders.

Community Business and Education Leaders is hosting the discussion. The group is a collaboration started in 2019 by Mountain West Investment Corporation president Larry Tokarski to address family and educational needs within the Salem-Keizer School District.
