Good morning, Salem.

A new digital exhibit at the Oregon State Capitol tells the story of one of the region’s earliest settlers.

“A Willamette Farmer’s Legacy – Thomas Dove Keizur” is a virtual exhibit available through Sept. 31 as part of the Capitol History Gateway program. Keizur served as a pre-provisional legislator in 1844 and the founding captain of the Oregon Rangers.

A physical version of the exhibit will be showcased at the Keizer Heritage Museum and Keizer Civic Center, and will open in the Capitol once renovations to the building are finished next year.

Tammy Wild, a Keizer Heritage Museum volunteer, spent more than a year researching and curating historical documents and photographs to produce this exhibit, the Oregon State Capitol Foundation said in a news release.
