Good morning, Salem.
Last year, the Boys & Girls Club served over $58,500 meals after school and during the summer. But its kitchen and other facilities have been strained since Covid, according to a statement from the Rotary Club.
Improvements funded by the grant will allow the club to provide free, healthy meals to over 2,000 kids. It’s paid for by proceeds from the Rotary Club’s annual Good Works Auction in February as well as investment earnings from the Salem Rotary Foundation. Local nonprofits submitted 16 applications for the grant.
Remodeling at the Eastwood branch, located at Hoover Elementary School, is slated to start this summer and be completed by the start of school in September.
