The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
The 2024 Community Belonging Survey is intended to “identify and implement ways to increase diversity, the sense of community belonging and inclusion for all communities in Salem,” the city said in a statement.
Graduate students at Western Oregon University are conducting the survey with the help of Salem’s volunteer Human Rights Commission. It’s available in English and Spanish. Responses will be kept confidential and combined for analysis, according to the statement.
After the same survey in 2022 highlighted discrimination against unhoused people, the city established housing status as a protected class.
The survey takes five to 10 minutes. People who respond by May 15 can enter a raffle to win two $50 prepaid Visa cards.
You can take the survey HERE.
