Good morning, Salem.

Tomorrow, the City of Salem is bringing activities and the chance to get behind the wheel of some heavy machinery to Riverfront Park.

Salem Service Day, an annual event previously called Public Works Day, aims to teach the community about city services through family-friendly fun.

City trucks will be parked for families to climb into for photos, and there will be robot and drone demonstrations. There will also be a bounce house and free hot dogs.

The event will be Thursday, June 15, at Riverfront Park, 200 Water St. N.E., from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Kids will need their parents or guardians to sign a waiver before climbing into a vehicle or using the bounce house. Waivers will be available at the park.

Marion-Polk Food Share will also be collecting non-perishable food at the event.

For more information, see the City of Salem’s Facebook post.
