Good morning, Salem.

Yesterday morning, a busy intersection in Salem saw dozens of gunshots as police responded to a reported carjacking in progress.

The confrontation ended with 27 year old Michael James Compton, the suspected robber, dead. As of Monday evening, police had not said who fired the shot that killed him, but named five officers involved in the incident.

Details are still coming out from this violent episode. We’re hoping to hear from anyone who witnessed the event, or has more information so we can continue to report accurately.
