Two weeks ago, on Monday, Jan. 23, 27-year old Michael J. Compton was killed during a gunfight with officers that shut down one of Salem’s busiest streets.

On Friday evening, following a grand jury investigation, the Marion County District Attorney’s Office released a detailed account of what happened as a grand jury cleared five Salem police officers. Read the details below.
