Prevent A Litter is partnering with Operation D.O.G. and Little Critters Rescue to collect donations this Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Salem Saturday Market to help low income and unsheltered pet owners. Needs include food, cat litter, beds, collars and leashes.

“We are committed to helping pet owners KEEP their pets and care for them properly. Our community is in a crisis with many dogs and cats being abandoned,” the organizations said in a news release. “Rescues, shelters and humane societies are at full capacity.  Help us help the dogs and cats and their owners in our community.”

Donations can also be dropped off at JR’s Garage, 2960 Pringle Rd. S.E., on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations are tax deductible, and anyone who donates an item will get a free raffle ticket for a basket of dog goodies or a basket that includes wine and chocolate.
