Secrecy surrounds case of DEA agent charged for Salem cyclist’s death
An agent of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration charged in a fatal cyclist collision was expected to request that he be allowed to possess guns in early October. He was also granted a request to travel out of state while facing the criminal charge.
UPDATE: Suspect dead after police shooting near Four Corners
Police responded to a report of a suspect firing gunshots near Four Corners Friday morning. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said officers fired shots and the suspect died of injuries but did not specify whether he was killed by police gunfire.

An Oregon State Police lieutenant tried to pull over a driver on Interstate 5 Friday morning who then rammed the patrol car from behind and fled before being arrested, the agency announced. The lieutenant suffered minor injuries.
Police arrest student, accused of keeping gun in locker at McKay
McKay High School Principal Antonio Mercado said in a statement Wednesday that a student had been arrested after police found a gun in their locker. “There was no indicated threat against the school or any individuals and the school did not go into a lockdown,” he wrote.
