Salem teen dies in single-vehicle crash near Silver Falls
Adrian Ramos Monroy, 18, died in a crash early Wednesday morning that state investigators said was likely due to speeding. Ramos Monroy was previously a student at Roberts High School in Salem and graduated in 2025.

Marion Polk Food Share to double food storage with new building
A new warehouse building recently purchased by the Marion Polk Food Share will double the organization’s space to food packing and storage starting in 2027. The purchase was made possible by community contributions and local, state and federal government funding.
15-year-old faces attempted murder charge for NE Salem shooting
After a March shooting in northeast Salem that left an adult with a gunshot wound to the head, Marion County detectives arrested a teenager who is now facing an attempted murder charge. The case comes as Marion County is seeing a drop in youth facing weapons-related criminal charges.

Salem bicyclist dies from injuries two weeks after downtown crash
Last month, Richard A. Hawkins died from the injuries he sustained after crashing into a car downtown while riding an electric bicycle through an intersection. Witnesses reported the involved driver had a green light.

Surveillance video shows federal agents arresting 2 inside Marion County Courthouse
Courthouse footage released Friday by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office shows two immigration arrests in the hallway of the Marion County Courthouse on Thursday, March 26. Sheriff’s deputies are seen observing the first arrest from a close distance, with one escorting the federal agents and the man arrested into a public elevator.
