Almost 3,500 Portland General Electric customers in Salem remained without power Monday afternoon, 10 days after the ice storm that knocked out lines across the region.

Company officials said the remaining repairs would proceed more slowly because remaining outages typically affect only a handful of customers, meaning each repair brings service back for fewer people.

“Those big wins, we’re not going to get them anymore,” said Quintin Gaddis, PGE’s senior manager for substation and meter operations, during a news conference Monday.

As of Monday afternoon, repairs are expected in Salem within the next two days, according to the PGE website, with repairs in outlying parts of Marion and Polk counties expected to last until the end of the week.
