The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
Starting on Sunday, Sept. 29, the street will be partly closed between Southeast Oak and Trade Streets.
Two of the three lanes will be closed at a time and in phases. Crews will start on the left side of the street and move to the right.
The closure is needed for repairs and improvements to connect Liberty Street with the bridge over Pringle Creek, the city said in a news release.
The work is expected to be done by November. It includes replacing curb ramps and sidewalks not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, resurfacing the road and installing improved bicycle markings, according to the city statement. There will be a mix of daytime and nighttime work.
The project is paid for by a $300 million Safety and Livability Bond, which voters passed in 2022.
“Drivers should exercise caution and watch for construction crews,” the city said in its statement.
