More than 16,000 students from around the U.S. were named semifinalists – less than 1% of the Class of 2024. Students are chosen for exceptional academic qualifications based on the student’s standardized test scores, and can become a finalist based on an application that includes overall academic record and a recommendation from a high school official.
Salem’s four semifinalists are:
- Joseph Lyons, Blanchet Catholic School
- Samantha Hart, Early College High School
- Elliot Rice, South Salem High School
- Joshua Marley, Sprague High School
In other news, Oregon’s Public Safety Academy in Salem. is open today from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the public to view a 9/11 memorial exhibit.
Today is the 23rd anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack in American history. The exhibit is located at the academy, 4190 Aumsville Hwy. S.E.
