Good morning, Salem.

Our local high schools are known for their music ensembles.

Western University of Health Sciences Lebanon Oregon

Last year, Sprague High School won state for 6A band, followed by West Salem High School.

String orchestras at South, West, McKay and Sprague took the top four state slots.

Those opportunities require travel, music supplies, professional lessons and more that schools can’t cover on their own.

Music Day is an annual fundraiser to benefit music programs at the six Salem-Keizer School District high schools. Students from schools go door-to-door fundraising on different Saturdays in September, collecting cans and bottles, as well as cash, coin and checks.

Here are details on each school’s event:

McKay High School: Sept. 14, or donate online here

McNary High School: Sept. 28. Sign up to volunteer with the band or donate needed supplies here.

North Salem High School: Sept. 14, or donate online here.

South Salem High School: Sept. 21, or donate online here.

Sprague High School: Sept. 7, or donate online here.

West Salem High School: Sept. 7. Donations can be left on porches in an envelope marked “West Salem Music Day,” mailed to West Salem Band Boosters – 1776 Titan Ave NW Salem OR 97304, or through PayPal to [email protected]. Please write “music day” in the notes field.
