Salem’s latest training for its Community Emergency Response Team begins Sept. 5, but the class is in danger of being canceled due to lack of interest, said Emergency Manager Joe Hutchinson.

The training runs Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. at Fire Station 6, 2740 25th Street S.E. The last class is Oct. 12.

Classes will cover basic first aid, emergency preparedness, assisting neighbors during a disaster, search techniques and more.
