Good evening, Salem.

A burn ban is in effect for the city of Salem through noon Wednesday because of forecasted thunderstorms which could bring gusting winds along with lightning strikes to an already hot, dry region.

Salem fire officials issued the ban Tuesday afternoon and could extend it if conditions warrant.

Over nearly four decades, Courtney helped bring transformative projects to life in Salem, including the downtown YMCA reconstruction. Our news obituary below has more on his life and influence in the Capitol and in his adopted city.
