Your Monday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.

Salem set heat records the past three days, and triple-digit temperatures will linger through Tuesday night.

The rest of the week won’t exactly be cool, but highs will return to the 90s, according to the National Weather Service, which might feel like relief.

Our team is continuing to check on local impacts and will keep you informed.

We’re also excited this week to welcome Madeleine Moore, our summer reporting intern and a new U of O journalism graduate.

She’ll be honing in on addiction and treatment in Salem this summer and welcomes your help and suggestions. If you have an idea for her to pursue or want to say hi, reach her at [email protected].

You’ll see her byline starting this week.
