Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Salem Reporter logo

Good evening, Salem.

The hot weather over Salem will remain in place for a few days. And nights aren’t going to be very cool.

That’s the latest word from the National Weather Service.

Your team at Salem Reporter is monitoring circumstances and we’re listing for you the parks where kids can splash in fountains and those organizations offering a cool spot to rest.

Remember the basics for such hot weather:

*Hydrate. Then drink more water.

*Skip the exertion outdoors – no need to prove anything and get a trip to the emergency room.

*Keep an eye out for folks you know don’t have AC at home. Check on them. Help them.

*Be especially kind to your pets. No hot pavement. No time closed up in a car. And a big bowl of fresh water, topped off regularly.

If you have information to share with the community, send an email to Editor Les Zaitz at [email protected]. We’re especially keen to learn about places to cool off that are open to the community.

You can get through this, Salem. We’re here to help.
