The event is titled “Nobody Is Illegal On Stolen Land.”
“Let’s unite and demonstrate our deep appreciation for the hardworking and dedicated individuals who keep our society moving forward,” according to a statement from PCUN, Oregon’s farm worker union. “We demand Housing For All, A Pathway to Citizenship for ALL Undocumented Workers, Fully Funded Public Schools, Union Rights for EVERY Worker, and a Ceasefire in Palestine.”
Portions of Northeast Court and Center Streets will be closed between Northeast Capitol and Church Streets during the event from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 1. The city of Salem asked drivers in a statement to find alternative routes, expect delays and watch for pedestrians in the area.

Who’s debating: Chris Hoy is the current mayor, seeking a second term. Julie Hoy, a local restaurateur, is serving on the Salem City Council. The Hoys are not related.
Who’s asking questons: Cindy Condon of Salem City Club, Abbey McDonald of Salem Reporter.
Who’s moderating: Les Zaitz, editor, Salem Reporter.
When: 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 30. Doors open: 5 p.m.
