Good morning, Salem.
They were among the honorees at the 66th annual meeting of the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments, held on Feb. 28 at the Spirit Mountain Event Center, hosted by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
Polk County Commissioner Jeremy Gordon received the Gwen VanDenBosch Regional Leadership Award for his work to boost affordable housing and reduce homelessness in rural Polk County. He has done so through work with organizations such as Polk County Partners Aligned Toward Housing Solutions and the Mid-Willamette Valley Homeless Alliance.
The Youth Zero Pass Program received the Regional Cooperative Project Award, which honors collaboration between local governments. The joint effort by Cherriots, the Salem-Keizer School District, and the cities of Salem and Keizer made rides free for everyone under 18 in September 2022.
