Good morning, Salem.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Town Hall on Gun Violence event last night. We’re grateful for everyone who took time out of their schedules to help begin a community dialogue around an important issue, including our panelists, interpreters, high school volunteers and audience members.

If you missed it live, you can watch a livestream of the event here. We’ll also publish a recap later this morning.

If you attended or viewed the event, we’d like to hear from you for an article to run Monday: What’s one thing that surprised you about what you heard at the Town Hall? What’s one action you plan to take as a result?

Please send your responses to either question along with your name to Ardeshir Tabrizian at [email protected]. We’ll compile a roundup of responses to publish.

Finally, a correction. A column we published yesterday about a new outdoor classroom at the Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge had the incorrect date for the ribbon cutting. It will be held March 16, not February 16. Our apologies for the error.

Here’s some of today’s news. You can always find our latest reports on our website.
