Good evening, Salem.

Teachers and Salem-Keizer School District administrators will be back at the mediation table Thursday trying to reach a contract as negotiations appear stuck.

District leaders made what they described as a “maxed out” offer in late January. They said the district can’t afford to spend more, but they were willing to keep negotiating over policy and details like how pay raises are divided. But there’s been little movement since on issues union leaders say are key to an agreement, including class size caps and how full-time employees are defined.
