The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
The 2024 Super Bowl kicks off in just under two weeks. Whether you’re cheering for the 49ers, Chiefs, just watching to see Taylor Swift or planning to skip the spectacle altogether, we thought you might like a bit of local trivia.
One 49er is an Oregon native who graduated in 2016 from Blanchet Catholic School. Ben Bartsch, 25, who grew up in Dayton, is an offensive guard for the San Francisco team. That comes after playing football at Blanchet, where he earned all-league and all-state honors, as well as competing in basketball and track and field. He was inducted into the school Hall of Fame in 2023.
Blanchet president Bob Weber alerted us to the connection.
“As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, Blanchet Catholic has tremendous pride for Ben, who is on the brink of realizing championship dreams. The entire Blanchet community rallies behind him, celebrating his achievements while wishing him the best of luck on the grandest stage of professional football,” Weber said in a statement.
