Your Monday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
The Willamette River is rising as rain continues, and Salem may see some light flooding this week.
We have an updated forecast below and will continue keeping an eye on the latest.
We’re also expecting more news on the Salem-Keizer School District’s spending cuts this week. Superintendent Andrea Castañeda plans to announce the final pieces of overhead and administration cuts this week, including the first layoffs at the district level.
Separately, district leaders and the Salem-Keizer Education Association have their first mediation session Wednesday as they try to reach a contract agreement. Teachers have been bargaining for a new contract since last spring.
Here are some of today’s stories. You can always find our latest reports anytime on our website.
