Good evening, Salem.

The holiday season is in full swing, and whether you want to look at pretty lights, meet Santa or just enjoy some cocoa, we have a guide to local events below.

The biggest one this weekend will be Salem’s holiday parade, which begins downtown at 6:30 p.m.

But we didn’t want you to miss out to some plays and other non-Christmas-themed entertainment this weekend. Here’s a quick roundup of some other things to do from tonight until Sunday.

Stone in Love, a Journey tribute band with a powerhouse vocalist, is coming to the Elsinore Theatre on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. to play hits from the band known for “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Wheel in the Sky.”

Tickets range from $25-$35, and are available online. The Elsinore is located downtown, at 170 High St. S.E.

South Salem High School’s production of “The Sound of Music” opens Thursday, Nov. 30 with shows through Sunday. Get tickets online here.

The Pentacle Theatre’s production of “The Play that Goes Wrong,” a popular British comedy, continued this weekend. It’s a play-within-a-play where the cast forgets the lines and dodges failing stage equipment.

The play “is a fun challenge for our talented acting ensemble – and an absolute blast for audiences,” Pentacle director Susan Schoaps said in a press release.

The play runs through Saturday, Dec. 9, with 7:30 p.m. shows Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. There is no show on Thanksgiving Day.

Ticket prices range from $17 to $37 and are available online, at the box office or by calling 503-485-4300. The Pentacle Theatre is located at 324 52nd Ave N.W.

Salem Philharmonia Orchestra presents all ages family concerts on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. at the East Salem Community Center, 1850 45th Ave. N.E. Admission is $20, $18 for students and free for teens and children 17 and under. Tickets online here.
