Salem police publish a log of a selection of calls officers responded to. Many of you said you’d like to see the information in our newsletter, so we’re again publishing the most recent update for calls from Nov. 24-26.
These reports come directly from Salem police. They can be found online on the agency’s Facebook and Nextdoor pages.
Assisted another agency / Lancaster DR & Silverton RD NE
Salem officers responded to the call of gunshot victim on behalf of county deputies who were on another call in another city. Officers rendered aid before paramedics arrived. Deputies assumed the scene investigation.
Fugitive arrest / 1500 block Hawthorne AV NE
A man was found inside a parked vehicle with the engine running and asleep. When contacted by officers, the man gave false information about his identify. It was ultimately determined he had a fugitive warrant from another state, and he was arrested.
Stolen vehicle / 1600 block 12th ST SE
Officers located a stolen vehicle. A woman was inside the car but ran when officers approached. A short foot pursuit followed, but the suspect was quickly apprehended. She was arrested on stolen vehicle related charges and an outstanding warrant.
Shots fired / 3100 block Liberty RD S
A dispute and gunfire in the parking lot of a bar was reported. No one was reported physical injuries; however, a vehicle was located with damage from multiple rounds from a gun. This is an ongoing investigation.
Vehicle crash / 1200 block of River RD S
A single vehicle rollover crash was reported. The driver of the truck fled the scene, then reported it stolen. The collision required repair of a power pole it struck and removal of the truck from the train tracks where it landed. The driver was arrested on charges of hit and run and initiating a false police report.
