Your Wednesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
If you cast a ballot in Tuesday’s election, odds are you voted against the city of Salem’s payroll tax.
82% of voters rejected the measure — and in the weeks leading up to the vote, we heard concerns about the tax from across the political spectrum, as well as some messages of support.
We’ve asked city councilors today what lesson they’re taking from the overwhelming defeat and will publish their responses tomorrow morning.
But we’d also like to hear from you.
If you voted no on the tax, what message did you intend to send the city council and city leaders? What would you like them to do next to address the city’d budget challenges, and what questions do you still have?
If you voted yes, what lesson are you drawing from the defeat? What options would you like to see Salem consider instead?
