The committee includes the city council and nine appointed citizen members, and is active for around six weeks starting in April with budget hearings each Wednesday at 6 p.m.

This year, the budget committee made decisions about the payroll tax that Salem voters will decide on Tuesday. Read Salem Reporter’s story on their perspectives on the city budget and revenue options.

There are also open seats on boards and commissions making decisions on traffic, Center 50+, urban renewal, culture and tourism, the library and parks.

See the city website for more information, or to apply.
